Quality and Responsibility: Catalyst Project Our firm's focus on cross-border investment law means that we benefit directly and disproportionately from the trends that are creating a more interrelated planet. We are eager proponents of globalization, but not just because it benefits us, but because we passionately believe that the more we globalize, the more opportunity there will be for everyone on this planet. We also understand better than many the problems and challenges that accompany globalization. We have a natural desire to see a just and equitable global society grow as part of a globalized economy. As participants in the global economy, we believe we have a responsibility to promote broad-based economic opportunity and social mobility. As a professional service firm that values relationships, we also believe we have a responsibility to help our client's philanthropic efforts. As a boutique law firm with limited resources, we obviously know that we cannot alone solve the social problems and challenges that accompany globalization. However, we also realize we have unique assets to contribute to increase understanding of the benefits of globalization as well as to find creative solutions to its challenges: our friends and clients. Our friends and clients in many foreign countries are often catalysts of change not only in their business but also in their philanthropic activity. They apply the same leadership, demanding standards and creativity to their philanthropic work as they do in their businesses, creating or discovering new and innovative charities in many countries around the world. Unfortunately, many of these local charities are unknown outside their borders. Our small contribution will be to help our friends' and clients' innovative charities raise their profile beyond their borders. We are particularly interested in new, innovative charities that offer young people from disadvantaged segments of society access to the opportunities created by globalization. Each year we will publicize selected charities brought to our attention by our friends and clients. We call this initiative the Catalyst Project.
